Inside Football ran from August 15 1970 - 26 February 1972 and continued as Inside Football and Striker from 4 March 1972 - 30 March 1974.

This weekly newspaper was actively targeted to people in the game. Referees, Players, Chairmen etc were sent the launch issue appealing to their pride with the strap line "For People who really know the Game".

The contributors' list was impressive:

Bill Shankley Hugh McIlvanney Bob Wilson Rodney Marsh Brian Kidd Jeff Astle Tommy Wright Patrick Collins Mike Summerbee.

It is interesting that a weekly newspaper decided to take on the pack of magazines at the time-names like Charles Buchan, Shoot, Goal, and World Soccer.

Whilst it survived less than 4 years the content is first rate and is an excellent source of reference for the period. Plus because it was a "only" a paper and not a magazine fewer issues were saved and so they very rarely appear on the market.
