The Sporting Herald
Launched in May -June 1949 with the strap line "The Illustrated Monthly Journal of Association Football.
Incorporating "The Darts" and "All Sports Herald"
Published at 149 Fleet Street,London EC4.
Priced at 6d.
The first issue referred to their "sister paper" Sport-which you can see on the site as having started a few years previously, "Incorporating The Darts and All Sports Herald"
After launching in May - June 1949 it didn't produce it's second issue until September 1949. Like the Charles Buchan Football Monthly it had hand tinted colour front covers and were 100% football content. It had the opportunity to be Britains leading football magazine but by issue 5 in December 1949 they were back to including other sports as a response to "many requests from readers"They did however continue with football team front covers after this point.
At the same time their strap line changed to "The Monthly Illustrated Journal of Sport".
Presumably a decision they regretted come September 1951 when CBFM launched.
