In 1911 the forerunner to this magazine "Football Players Magazine-Official Journal of the AssociationFootball Players Union" had launched under the initial editorship of Evelyn Lintott.A very far sighted move with the Football League and Football Association many years away from producing their own publication.
It became "Soccer: The Official Journal of the Football Players Union" in 1947 under the revitalising influnce of Jimmy Guthrie.
A campaigning magazine for the rights of professionaln players.
The Union became the Players Football Association under Jimmy Hill's stewardship and you can see their magazine "Footballers World" launch in 1993
I think this is a very interesting publication.It is very strident in its endeavours to create a better work environment for professional players.In these days of overpaid stars it gives you pause for thought.
